STUDENTS

WELCOME NYC PUBLIC SCHOOLS STUDENTS!

Helping You Get Access to Care When You Need It

Your mental health and wellness are just as important to us as your physical health, academic progress, and future career goals. We want you to know that your school has mental health and wellness resources and services to support you and to ensure that you feel welcomed, affirmed, and nurtured in your school setting.

LET’S TALK

Let’s Talk NYC has additional resources for NYC public schools students that you may find useful. Remember, your school always has adults who are ready to listen. Teachers at participating schools are specially trained to respond to students experiencing a difficult time and guide them to appropriate resources.

COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES

NYC has a variety of mental health supports and services that are available to youth throughout the city. The Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health publishes a variety of guides which provide a comprehensive overview of mental health resources, strategies for enhancing mental wellness, and information on how and where to ask for help. See here for a current guide on Supporting the Emotional Wellbeing of Children Seeking Asylum in New York City and here for a COVID-19 Guide to Mental Health Resources for Children, Teens, and Young Adults.

IMMEDIATE MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES

If you are having trouble getting mental health supports in your school, we can help. If you have mental health needs that are life threatening and/or require immediate attention, please call 911. We also want you to be aware of other mental health supports that are available to you free of charge.
